Trade In Program
So you need new skates and don’t know what to do with your old ones…
Our Used Skate Trade-in Program is designed for young skaters and families, offering them a choice when purchasing figure skates. Children’s feet are constantly growing, and parents may have to buy new skates each year, not because the skates are in bad shape, they just simply don’t fit anymore.
The Used Skate Trade-in Program is where we evaluate the condition of your old figure skates, and if they are up to our trade-in standards, we will take them and give you a discount on a pair of NEW skates. If you are unsure of the condition of your skates, please see below for trade-in qualifications or come into the store and ask one of our Skate Experts to assess the skates for a trade-in value.
*Please note we do NOT accept hockey skates.
Skates can be traded in and applied to a new pair of skates. Generally, the trade-in value is up to 1/3 of what you would have paid retail, up to a maximum value of $200.00.
The value of the trade-in is only to be used on the purchase of a NEW pair of skates, meaning you CANNOT trade in used skates for a pair of used skates.
Additionally, a trade-in can only be applied when purchasing a boot and blade (set or separate) that is less than $680.00
Used skates must be styles that are in our current inventory. Obsolete skate models will NOT be accepted. If you are not sure if the skate is a current model, you can refer to our skate inventory on our website, or you can check the manufacturer’s website. If you are still unsure what model the skate is, please ask one of our store employees to see if we accept the brand and make of the skate.
Used skates that are being traded in must have no modifications done to them (this does not include bumping or heat moulding, as this is done to all skates).
What we look for:
- Leather is not creased in any area
- The boot must still have support
- The heel/toe cannot be separating from the boot
- Blades do not have any rust on them
- The blades must be usable for 2+ years.
When not to bring them:
- Any modifications such as: personally glued gems, painted boots, blade shims, or heel lifts
- Severe damage to boot (i.e., scrapes & tears)
- Out-of-date and discontinued styles and brands
Skates with little to no sharpening will not be accepted. If you are unsure how much sharpening remains on the blades, please ask one of the skate technicians.
We will NOT accept any of the following brands: Wifa, Harlick, SP Teri, Klingbeil, SK, GAM, GRAF.
